Chili sin carne

Who doesn't like juicy comfort food? I wasn't really into spicy foods a few years back. It is interesting how the taste can change over time. Now I love the heat in my meals. The more the better. Not always but quite often. I couldn't live without curry powder for example. My lovely mother-in-law always sends me some nice spices.

So if you are into spicy stuff then give this recipe a try. You can replace mince soy with red lentils if you don't care for soy.

  • 1-2 chili peppers
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 3-4 tbsp oil
  • 400 g canned kidney beans
  • 100 g dried soy mince
  • 300 ml water
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 200 ml tomato sauce
  • 3-4 tbsp soy sauce
  • (a pinch of chili flakes)

Heat up the wok pan and pour some oil in it. Add diced chili peppers (remove the seeds). Fry for about a minute and add chopped garlic, drained and rinsed kidney beans, dried soy mince, water and all the other ingredients. Stir, cover with a lid and cook for 10-15 minutes. Serve with rice for example.
